Church Weighs On Issues Between President Kenyatta And DP Ruto

The church has raised its concern on the misunderstandings between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy President William Ruto.

The National Congress of Pentecostal Churches and Ministries is hopeful that Kenyatta and Ruto can still iron out their differences.

The Clergy want Kenyatta to engage his deputy and find a solution to their differences before things escalate. The clergy as  well appealed to DP Ruto to be willing to sit down and speak with his boss.

The Congress President Bishop Stanley Michuki said that whatever is happening between the two leaders of national importance has an impact on the nation as their issues might affect the peace, unity and stability of the country.

“As church leaders, we are concerned that these differences can begin to trickle down to the supporters of the two and plunge the nation into chaos,”

He further said that currently the country is undergoing lots of challenges including Corona pandemic, debt crisis and even a struggling economy hence need to prevent another problem.

“The last thing the country needs is a quarrel between the President and his deputy. The two are church going Christians and should practice forgiveness as the Bible says,” he said.

The Pentecostal bishops who had converged in Mombasa said they were willing to lead the talks between the president and his deputy.

President Kenyatta and DP Ruto rift continues to widen as established by recent events.

It is alleged that the trouble between them began when President Kenyatta decided to work with ODM leader Raila Odinga as a result of the handshake something that did not please Ruto because Raila had been their political enemy.

From that instance, Ruto has been sidelined by the government and even his responsibilities are claimed to have been given to the Interior CS Fred Matiang’i.

Earlier this week, the president went ahead to ask Ruto to resign if he is not pleased by what the government is doing. Barely days later, Ruto security team consisting of GSU officers was withdrawn and replaced with Administration police.

Two of his drivers who are also trained police officers were also withdrawn a day later.
