How Raila Odinga Plans To Raise The Kshs6000 For Unemployed Kenyans

ODM leader Raila Odinga said that he will pay Kshs6000 monthly to every unemployed households in 2022 if he becomes the head of state.

Raila revealed the plan on Saturday October 9 while addressing a crowd at Naivasha.

Questions arose of how the former prime minister was going to achieve his promise as his allies were put to task to explain how it was achievable through social media.

“We want every Kenyan to get a job but for those who are unemployed, there will be a social welfare state through which they will get Ksh6,000 monthly stipend,” he said.

Speaking on Wednesday Raila said that the Kshs100 billion social welfare fund will be raised through budget cuts and money recovered from graft cases.

Raila further said that his government will target at least 2 million households to cushion them from poverty and harsh economic times.

The leader added all ministry will experience a 25 per cent budget cut and the proceeds will be added to Kshs37 billion that is already in place.

Raila further stated that in order to completely achieve the plan, his government will focus on mass employment of the youths during his first year in office.

Other plans during the initial stages of his ruling include; cutting of government spending, restructuring of the government in a bid to reduce expenditure as well as sealing of graft loopholes.

He compared his Ksh6000 plan to the free primary education promise he made during the campaigns of former president Mwai Kibaki.

He further urged Kenyans to register as voters in the ongoing registration exercise.

Raila recently revealed that his decision to opt out of the 2022 general elections will be determined by the outcome of the registration exercise.

“You must all get your shield and spear for me to be able to have a strong command against our opponents,” he stated.
