DJ Evolve’s Father Responds To Claims Of Exchanging Babu Owino’s Case With The Mouth-watering Deal

John Orinda, the father of DJ Evolve, has denied allegations that he let go of the murder case against Babu Owino for the life changing deals.

Babu was accused of attempting to murder DJ Evolve, whose real name is Felix Orinda, by shooting him with a gun on the neck in January 2020 at a club in Nairobi.

The parties in the case however agreed to settle the matter out of court, a move that saw the Embakasi East lawmaker get acquitted of the murder charges after a review of the reconciliation deal.

Speaking to a local publication, Orinda said that right now his focus was to ensure that his son gets better.

“People have the right to voice their opinion on what should happen, and what shouldn’t. However, for me, my son’s well-being overrides all other issues.

“I hear some people claiming that I exchanged my son’s case for the money. What do people take me for? A callous man who would sell his son’s welfare the way a farmer would sell his goat at the market?”  the father posed.

He justified his move saying that it will be of no use for Owino to get Jailed and his son ending up dead.

“I am a Christian, and my conscience wouldn’t allow me to do that. I know there are people who would wish to see Babu Owino in jail. But, what would we gain if he is sent to prison and my son dies?” Orinda asked.

He further said that the deal that they sealed was comprehensive to ensure that Babu will cover all medical bills until the DJ is back on his feet once again.

The life changing deals that have caused an uproar in social media include;

Babu pays Kshs18 million medical bill at the Nairobi hospital, the law maker would cater for DJ Evolve’s homecare until his recovery or doctor’s advice.

He would set up a DJ academy for Evolve to generate income for his family.

On top of that, the Babu will buy a Toyota Noah for the  entertainer.

He will also build a house for DJ Evolves’s father in Utawala. He already bought a house for Evolve.

Here are some of the reactions from social media users concerning the deal.

“Kenya is a funny country joke of law and rule of law , it was government Vs the murderer not evolve , DJ evolve was a victim of the crime he is not to decide how the law should deal with criminals..oh handshake sanitizer.. DPP and kinoti t*****ka kabisa,” Jeff Onguti tweeted.

“But does the deal with DJ Evolve stop Babu Owino from shooting the next victim after taking shisha?” Nathan Robe asked.

Duncan Korir said, “Attempting murder is very expensive. Babu Owino will have to part with close to or more than 50 million in a new deal with DJ Evolve.”

Vincent Kiplimo wrote, “The deal was good for DJ Evolve, I agree. But the question is , what will prevent Babu Owino from committing such act Again! This proofs that Money always win in our Justice system whether in our judicial systems or outside courts!”
“This is a good deal for DJ EVolve and Babu. I know we would all want Babu jailed but someone has to provide for DJ Evolve, will you do it? What you can do is register in Embakasi and vote against Babu,” Mwangi’s tweet read.
