In November 2019, Diamond Platnumz’s manager Babu Tale shocked the world when he revealed that they sought the services of a witchdoctor to ensure the success of Wasafi Festival.
Speaking to Wasafi media, Tale said that they were forced seek the services of a witchdoctor in order to prevent heavy rains from pounding Dares Salaam on the day Wasafi festival was to be held.
The 2019 Wasafi festival was headlined by continental acts such as Wizkid and Tiwa Savage.
“As it is right now, we are busy calling the witchdoctors to prevent the rains on Saturday. When you see someone rushing to a witchdoctor just know that they have tried all the options available. We are all Africans,” Babu Tale said a few days before the festival.
Tale also confirmed Diamond’s management used the services of a witchdoctor to stop the rain from falling in Zanzibar for Wasafi festival which was also held there.
“The team is headed to Zanzibar on holiday, a lot of work went into preparations including preventing the rain and bringing in the sun,” Tale said.
In 2017, Diamond ex manager Maneno said that he took the singer and other artistes including ex wasafi singer Rich Mavoko and late artist Sam wa Ukweli to seek the services of a witchdoctor in Kigamboni in the Eastern part of Dares Salaam.
Diamond has being linked multiple times to the use of black magic to ensure that his musical career is successful.
Speaking to an interview with Mpasho on Friday January 14th 2022, Kenyan singer Ringtone poked fun at Diamond over his use of witchcraft.
Ringtone bragged that he is richer than Diamond, admitting that the Bongo singer was only better than him in terms of using witchcraft and having more followers on social media.
“The only thing Diamond ananishinda ni followers na uchawi tu. When it comes to money and living large I am way ahead of him. Tell him to research me. The Kenyan currency is more powerful than the Tanzanian currency,” Ringtone bragged.
