14-year Old Boy Who Was Set Ablaze By His Elder Brothers Succumbs To Injuries

A 14-year old boy who was set ablaze by his brothers has succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment.

The boy was receiving treatment at the Mandera County Teaching and Referral Hospital.

According to the police, the standard seven pupil at a local primary school in Mandera, breathed his last at around 2am on Wednesday morning.

“The 14-year-old boy had put up a brave fight for his life, but towards 2am this morning he gave up and went to be with the Lord,” the police said.

His devastated father could not hold back his tear as he reported the matter to the police.

“His distraught father Abdullah Hassan, who couldn’t come to terms with the loss of his beloved son, shed tears of pain and anguish as he reported his death to our officers,” the police further said.

The boy was set ablaze by his brothers who feared that he might testify against them for stealing a phone.

The brothers, Ibrahim Ahmed and Yusuf Ahmed, lured the deceased to their house before rolling him on a mattress, doused it with petrol and set him on fire.

“After setting him ablaze, the two brothers immediately went into hiding leaving their little brother for dead,” the police report read.

The police rushed to the scene to rescue the boy who had suffered serious burns.

20-year old Ibrahim and Yusuf, 17, are currently in police custody.

“They are currently guests of the State at Mandera Police station being processed for the offence of Murder contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the penal code,” police stated.
