Citizen TV’s Purity Mwambia Is Almost Homeless After Exile In US

Purity Mwambia was forced into exile after her “Guns Galore” investigative report on Citizen Television.

Purity Mwambia, the former investigative journalist for Citizen Television, stood before an esteemed audience at a conference meticulously organized by the United States Department of State.

The conference was meant to shed light on the formidable barriers that women confront in the treacherous landscape of news and journalism.

Purity Mwambia embraced her role as a participant in a panel discussion by the Bureau of Global Public Affairs on May 30, 2023.

The focus of this particular session pierced her heart, delving into the plight of women who, like her, are ruthlessly coerced into the shadows of exile due to their unwavering pursuit of truth and justice.

“My challenges are not very different from other investigative journalists in exile.”

“When you come here from your country where you’ve done big stories, you’ve quoted all these people who are doing some corruption, big shots in the government, but believe me, when you come here, it’s like your voice is silenced.” Purity narrates.

Purity claims the American Dream is not as easy as many make it look. She has done only one story with a local US media. The people who helped her run away into exile has since abandoned her.

“I was brought here by an organisation and they abandoned me. They left me, I’m on the verge of homelessness because I don’t know what to do next,” she says.
