A South African woman, Jayla Brenae got shocked after finding out that the family photo which she took together with her two children and her husband was being used in Kenya, by Mater Hospital without her knowing.
The photo went viral on Twitter after a Twitter user shared it asking the universe if the family knows that their photo is being used for advertising purposes in Kenya.
“Is this family aware their faces are being used like this? (Poster by mater hospital),” @ShikoWAwanjish sent out the tweet on December 11.
So it’s a hospital in Kenya. They did not ask permission, we did not get any compensation for this and we were completely unaware our photo was being used.

On December 12th, through the power of social media, the viral tweet reached Jayla Brenae alias Mama Jay and to her surprise, she was shocked utterly to see her family photo getting used in a Kenyan hospital.
“What the actual heck….. NO WE DID NOT!?!?!?!?! This is not a stock photo is our family announcement of our baby girl…,” she reacted.
She went on to add that the hospital didn’t ask for permission to use their photos, she disclosed that she wasn’t even compensated for the photos as well. She also disclosed that they’re the ones who took the photo using a tripod.
“So it’s a hospital in Kenya. They did not ask permission, we did not get any compensation for this and we were completely unaware our photo was being used.

As it turns out, Mama Jay’s family photo also got used in Lagos, Nigeria by a company there as well. It got used for promotional purposes without her prior knowledge or her husband’s by the Pine Morada company.
