Otile Brown Comes Clean Why He Did Not Contribute Anything To Brian Chira’s Fundraiser

“Siwezi danganya, sikutoa kitu but si niliperform bila kulipwa kwa matanga,” Otile Brown said a day after performing at Brian Chira’s burial for free.

Speaking to an entertainment news blog, Otile seemed to regret not giving Chira’s grandmother any financial contribution despite traveling to Githunguri for the funeral and even having the opportunity to perform, albeit a little.

The musician noted that he was thinking of looking for the phone number of Brian Chira’s grandmother but insisted that he would only do so if he is informed that she really needs financial support given that well-wishers had already raised Ksh8 million.

“I can’t lie, I didn’t give anything, I don’t know but I think that’s why I need to get her number and see if I can help in one way or another. But that is if she has a special need, because Kenyans have already fulfilled their responsibilities,” Otile Brown said.

However, Otile also seemed to defend himself by not giving a financial contribution, saying that even just appearing and performing for the mourners and not demanding payment is a sufficient contribution that deserves to be commended for.

The musician advised people to desist from seeing life from the side of money in everything, noting that there are other actions that are done with a heart of love that exceed any amount of money.

“Let’s stop reducing life and make it only about money. Sometimes even just showing up is a huge contribution, I have contributed in one way or another.

“However, I don’t mean that I don’t want to contribute, I don’t have a problem with that, but we as Kenyans will see what we can do, and I take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed, but also if I am needed, I will come forward,” Otile said.

Otile Brown on Tuesday performed his hit ‘One Call’ at Brian Chira’s farewell event, a move he said was prompted by fans pressuring him to perform claiming the hit was Chira’s favourite.
