“Irrelevant Distractions” Huddah Monroe Slams Anti-Government Protests

Huddah Monroe has thrown her weight behind the country’s anti-government protests, but not in the way you might expect.

In a series of Instagram stories, the beauty mogul has criticized the protests, saying they have lost focus and are now mired in “mixed agendas” and “irrelevant distractions”.

According to Monroe, the initial purpose of the protests – to oppose the Finance Bill 2024 – has been lost in the chaos.

She lamented that instead of staying focused on the bill, protesters are now taking part in “a whole distraction from real issues on the ground”.

The entrepreneur expressed her frustration at the fragmented nature of the protests, saying that it’s time for government officials to be held accountable.

Monroe’s remarks are likely to stir controversy, as many Kenyans have taken to the streets to demand change.

The protests began on June 25, 2025, with thousands of people marching through the streets of Nairobi and other cities.

However, Monroe believes that the movement has lost its way, with government officials and opposition leaders jostling for attention.

“We had an agenda,” she wrote. “Now we have mixed agendas. There’s finance bill that’s still being decided on, cabinet? Governors, MPs that need to go!”

The outspoken entrepreneur’s comments are sure to spark a lively debate in Kenya’s social media circles.
