“I Did What People Thought Was Impossible” Makena Njeri Brags About Supreme Court Ruling On LGBTQ

Supreme Court allowed homosexuality in Kenya thanks to Makena Njeri who constantly pushed through lower courts to have LGBTQ recognized.

The Supreme Court ruled that homosexuals in Kenya have the right to associate and that the decision of the Kenya Non-Governmental Organizations Board to prevent LGBTQ+ from forming recognized groups was unconstitutional.

Three judges in the five-judge bench ruled that community members have a right to associate even though the law considers same-sex marriages illegal. Hence, the refusal to register them was discriminatory and contravened the law.

The court said that despite homosexuality being outlawed in Kenya, LGBTQ members still have the right to associate.

However, Justices Mohamed Ibrahim and William Ouko dissented and held a firm stance that the law was clear on the illegality of gays and lesbians.

The Supreme Court ruling sparked anger among many Kenyans and even united both the president and opposition leaders who came out to denounce homosexuality.

Even as most Kenyans are dismayed by the court ruling, Makena Njeri is tossing a glass after securing victory for the LGBTQ community.

Commenting on a post by Kenya Reports on Facebook, Makena Njeri bragged about how she managed to do the impossible.

“And if they ask you who I am….. Tell them I’m that person who did what people thought was impossible and I am still gonna keep doing the thing for a long time coming. You know what they call that? Legendary 🚀. Bold ✊🏾,” Makena Njeri wrote.
