Wilbroda Regrets Wasting Her Money On Alcohol Instead Of Investing

Wilbroda sunk into alcoholism at the peak of her career and drank all her money with her friends.

The actress recently expressed regret for wasting her time and money in alcohol instead of making wise financial decisions.

“I wish I had someone to hold my hand and help me invest then because then I didn’t know where to put my money or make it grow,” Wilbroda shared.

Wilbroda said there were many instances of artists who had passed on or fallen ill and yet they had nothing to show for during the period they entertained their fans.

Drawing a practical analogy, she emphasised that it’s not about the amount one earns but rather how judiciously they manage and invest their income.

Wilbroda added that she was committed to sharing her financial insights to spare fellow artists from the financial pitfalls she encountered.

“Hatukuwa tunalipwa pesa mingi lakini iyo kidogo unaitumiaje, I have seen mama mbogas who have taken their kids to the greatest of heights so it’s not really the amount of money that you are paid, yes it matters but it’s not the greatest thing; it is what you do with what you have,” Wilbroda explained.

The former Papa Shirandula actress opened up about her alcohol addiction for the first time in September 2021, narrating how fake friends drank all her money.

The Milele FM radio presenter cum actress while speaking to Buzz Central’s Cheptoek Boyo revealed that she got into alcohol when she was at her career peak getting endorsements from companies.

The mother of one sunk into heavy drinking with friends who were keeping her company only because she was footing the bills.

“At that time I was at the peak of my career and getting good money. I had a crew that would only talk positively about me. We would sit and drink and a lot of the time I would be the one footing the bills,” said Wilbroda.

However, the actress turned over a new leaf because of her son whom she is raising as a single mother.

“I sat down and told myself, this is not the kind of life I want my son to grow into. I told myself I need to take a break from this kind of drinking and I had to stop.”

Wilbroda stopped taking alcohol for two years, all her fake friends deserted her.

“I took a two-year break. I did not touch alcohol. The friends disappeared. I gained true friends and I think now I am a social drinker. I take wine and you will never find me drinking every day. That is what comes with maturity. Unlike before, I can say no to a drink.”
