“Pesa Imetembea” Alai Reveals How DJ Joe Mfalme Went From Being Murder Suspect To State Witness

After two weeks in remand prison, DJ Joe Mfalme was released after the prosecution told the court that he was no longer a suspect but rather a witness in the ongoing murder case of DCI officer Felix Kelian.

In a ruling on Monday, April 8, 2024, Kibera Magistrate Margaret Murage was informed by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) that DJ Joe Mfalme and five others, including three police officers, will be designated as State witnesses.

The accused-turned-state witnesses are Eric Kariuki Gathua, Simon Wambugu Wanjiru, Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Cheruiyot Rotich, and Agnes Kerubo Mogoiare.

Joe Mfalme had been in custody for 14 days alongside six others before their release on Monday.

The seven had been held on the request of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the State to allow investigations into the murder of Kabete detective Felix Kelian to be concluded.

When they appeared in court Monday for directions, the Magistrate was told that the DPP had resorted to utilising DJ Joe Mfalme and some six respondents as state witnesses.

Following Joe Mfalme’s release, whistle blower-cum-Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai took to social media to reveal what transpired that caused the DJ to be turned to State witness when he was a suspect in the murder of the DCI officer.

Alai claims money changed hands to make the investigation team happy which resulted with the accused turned to witnesses.

“In the DJ Joe Mfalme case, pesa imetembea. He who is being charged with murder is NOT the real suspect. The real suspect has been released because familia fanyad Juu Chini and ensured that the investigation team was happy. Kwani iko nini?” Robert Alai wrote on X.
