Obinna Defends ‘Traitor’ Jalang’o But Faults Him For Disobeying Raila

Jalang’o was labelled a traitor by Raila Odinga for going against the party and engaging with Ruto.

Speaking at the Azimio Parliamentary Group meeting in Machakos on February 9, 2023, Raila dismissed ODM lawmakers who are meeting president William Ruto under the guise that they are seeking development projects for their constituencies.

Raila said under the new constitution opposition MPs don’t need to kneel before the government to get development projects for their constituencies since the constitution guarantees them funds for development.

“If you want to go and see Mr President as a personal project in State House go. But if you want to go and talk about issues that affect the party then you must be given permission by the party before you go to see the president. These people must be seen for what are – traitors in the course of a revolution. We are in a cause of very serious issue,” Raila said.

Opposition lawmakers from Nyanza who met Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua at State House February 7, 2023, include; Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Shakeel Shabir (Kisumu East, Independent) Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o (Lang’ata), Paul Abuor (Rongo), John Owino (Awendo) and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda.

Jalang’o came under a scathing attack after he was labelled a traitor.

Obinna, who replaced Jalang’o at Kiss FM’ came to the defense of the treacherous Lang’ata MP.

The Kiss FM presenter condemned everyone who was attacking the MP saying his visit was aimed at discussing development for Lang’ata purposes.

“Sometimes just let people be and sort out their issues and try not to focus on positive things. Jalas didn’t have bad intentions because if he had, he could have even gone at night,” Jalang’o said.

The former radio presenter went to meet the president at the State House without acknowledgment from his party, not even the party leader.

Regarding asking for permission from the party before going to meet Ruto, Obinna said;

“I do not know the rules for politics and I don’t know how things work since politics politricks and today someone might be good and next day the opposite. But if it were me since I respect my bosses I’d have asked for permission.”

He concluded by saying that; “Jalas is a very careful man and that he is not sure if his life is in danger or not but since there are many fanatics and goons who always react without thinking he should be extremely careful.”
