Neo Bus Accident: How The Bus Driver Met His Death

Fresh details have emerged on the  accident that involved Neo Kenya Mpya bus  at Makuyu in Murang’a county on Tuesday, December 14.

It is alleged that the accident involved two of the Neo Kenya Mpya buses that were ferrying students of Gititu mixed secondary school.

The bus that overturned was allegedly being driven by a conductor who was unqualified.

The conductor was driving at a high speed and the buses were following each other at a close range according to witnesses who spoke to NTV.

“As the bus approached a sharp corner, the driver attempted to slow down to enable him negotiate the bend. However, the second bus driver, who was closely following him, hit him at the back,” said a witness.

That is when the bus lost control and overturned. The actual driver decided to jump out of the vehicle when he saw the danger ahead leading to his death.

The other occupants of the bus were only injured and were rushed to health facilities by good Samaritans.

A total of 12 students were treated and discharged from the Makuyu and Kenol Hospitals . One who had a fractured hand is still being treated at Kenol hospital.

Two female students with serious injuries were referred to the Thika Level 5 hospital for specialized treatment.

The Kenya Mpya bus was towed to the  Makuyu police station to be held as an exhibit in the court of law.
