“Form ni kuoga na kurudi soko carries darkness.” “People have sold their souls to the devil,” says Nicah, the slang was used by Diana Marua in her latest single.
In a disheartening Facebook post via her reels, gospel singer Nicah the Queen has raised concerns about the use of the local slang sentence “form ni kuoga na kurudi soko” which means, (the plan is to bathe and go back to the streets).”
She believes it is a call to prostitution and girls to act carefree that predominantly affects women. It’s heartbreaking to think that women are being forced to resort to such means to survive in a society that doesn’t always value their worth.
Form ni kuoga na kurudi soko is a slang that was meant to encourage people to move on from heartbreak but it has since been twisted, says Nicah.
The power of words and how they can impact people’s lives cannot be assumed or overlooked.
“Ati form ni kuoga na kurudi soko!? This slang has caused a lot of young girls to sell their bodies and sleep with any man that comes their way!” She rants.
Diana Marua used the phrase in her comeback song “Narudi Soko” from her maternity period. After the birth of baby Malaika Bahati, who’s now six months old, the hit song propelled her back to social conversations and attention.
“Be woke and alert don’t just move with the trend because weeeeh, people have sold their souls to the devil and there’s a move to destroy young girls and women! Ask yourself why is it that only women carry this slang!? Nicah asks.
“This slang has caused a lot of relationships and marriages to end just like that!! Form si kuoga na kurudi soko hii ni kufunzwa umalaya,” Nicah insists.
“I have said what the Holy Spirit has instructed me to…that’s all!” Nicah concludes.
