Akothe, who is well known for her philanthropy, bared her soul, revealing the painful aftermath of her altruism.
In her Facebook account, Akothe recounted her benevolent act of providing refuge to a struggling single mother and her six children turned into a source of depression for her.
Akothe opened her home to the single mom of six, offered land for farming, ensured access to essentials like food, water, and electricity, and even facilitated education for all the children.
However, despite Akothe’s unwavering support, the single mother failed to reciprocate with responsibility and appreciation, neglecting her parental duties and displaying ingratitude towards Akothe’s generosity.
The situation deteriorated when the woman’s ex-husband, previously responsible for demolishing her dwelling, reappeared and began squatting on Akothe’s property without consent.
This breach of boundaries and disrespect towards Akothe’s property and staff exacerbated the turmoil and disappointment.
Akothe’s emotional post reflects her profound sense of hurt and disillusionment, prompting introspection on the unintended consequences of her initial acts of kindness.
“It appears that I’ve become a target for exploitation. I’ve generously provided shelter and resources to a single mother with six children, offering them a home, land for agriculture, food, water, free electricity, and education for all her children. However, despite my efforts, this woman displays a troubling lack of responsibility towards her children.
“Her laziness is evident as she neglects her parental duties. Moreover, her ex-husband’s actions, demolishing her previous residence, have led her to seek refuge in my compound without permission. She freely enters my home and helps herself to whatever she desires without bothering to ask.
“To compound the situation, she invites her ex-husband to stay with her, causing further disruption and even disrespecting my employees. This scenario has left me questioning the wisdom of my initial generosity and wondering how I became entangled in such a problematic situation I am so hurt,” Akothee wrote.
