Connie said her sexual desire dried up completely after she started taking cancer treatment chemotherapy.

The Kenyan woman was only diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2022.

Leukemia is a type of blood cancer that starts in the bone marrow.

Connie, who is in her early 30s and only married for four years, has been adversely affected by her condition which has not only affected her health but is also threatening the very foundation of her young marriage.

Before the diagnosis, Connie noticed changes in her body. She felt fatigued a lot and also started having back pain.

She went for medical check ups and was ultimately diagnosed with leukemia.

The diagnosis scared the living daylights out of Connie as she thought she was nearing her death.

However, she was inspired to spirit to fight for his life by her inner circle.

Connie is proud of is her husband’s unwavering support which has been an important shield in maintaining her stability during these difficult times as she undergoes chronic cancer treatment.

The tricenarian however noted that when he started cancer treatment – Chemotherapy, her monthly menstruation disappeared, thus leading to a decrease in sexual desire.

“You know there is nothing anyone can do whether you are married or not, if you go through this treatment sexual feelings become the last thing on your mind, not someone’s love” Connie told BBC.

He also adds that physical fatigue also contributes to decreased sexual feelings and often patients prefer to rest or sleep due to the pain they experience.

But she says that the counselor who was accompanying them gave her husband enough advice regarding such incidents, adding that her husband understood her.

“So it was easy for my husband to deal with the feelings of sexuality because he had already been prepared by counselors about the changes that cancer would bring to our society,” says Connie.

But despite all that, the fate of her marriage, the care of a new child, as well as the fear that he would say goodbye and leave the young family, are also issues that gave her sleepless nights.

Constant pain and fatigue, however, made him unable to care for and show love to his young son.

“Carrying my son or playing with him is something that was bothering me a lot,” she says.

Another issue Connie is battling with is hair loss and occasional anger outbursts.

“In addition to losing all the hair on my head, I get very angry, small things push me to get angry with people all the time, even if someone passes in front of you, you just get angry, and most of the time you get angry at life for no reason,” Connie said.
