Jeff Mwathi’s Mom, Lawyer Promise Protection To Any Kenyan With Evidence To Prove Fatxo Killed The Deceased

DJ Fatxo can still be nailed for Jeff Mwathi’s death if evidence produced in the public inquest is superglue tight.

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) on Thursday June 8, 2023, filed an inquest at Milimani Law Courts to inquire into the mysterious death of the late Jeff Mwathi.

The inquiry was lodged in court after investigators failed to get evidence directly linking anybody to the death of Mwathi who died in unclear circumstances on February 23, 2023, at DJ Fatxo’s Kasarani apartment.

Appearing before Magistrate Zainabu Abdul the DPP told the court that they will be calling a total of 35 witnesses to testify in Mwathi’s inquest.

Magistrate Abdul, who was appointed to hear the inquest fled by Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina, directed the lead investigating officer Clement Mwangi to serve all parties with the witness statements that will be used in the inquest before the hearing date.

The court was however informed that Mwathi’s family has appointed lawyer Danstan Omari to represent them while Lawrence Njuguna aka DJ Fatxo is represented by Lawyer Duncan Okatch.

Omari and Jeff’s mother Anne Wacuka held a press conference after DPP filed the inquest.

“Mi kenye ningetaka ningetaka government ichukulie kila mtu akifanya makosa achukuliwe hatua,” Jeff’s mom said.

“The late Jeff met his death in circumstances that looked suspicious,” the family lawyer Danstan Omari said.

The lawyer further called on any Kenyan with evidence to prove that Jeff was murdered to reach out to the family and him.

Omari promised protection to anyone with evidence to prove that Jeff was killed.

“This matter being a first major public inquest in this country we are appealing as a family that anybody who has information to the circumstances that led to the death of a young man Jeff Mwathi can directly contact family, his lawyers I am here so that we are able to produce that evidence in the inquest.

“If there is any fear about the security of that person, that information will be handled confidentially. We will be able to activate the witness protection agency to protect that witness so that we unravel the death of this young man,” Omari said.’

He further empathized with Jeff Mwathi’s mother saying that she only had two children and one has since died and that his death is still puzzling.

“This woman had only two living children, one has gone. She is now having only one. It is very emotional,” Omari said.
