KTN anchor and Francis Atwoli’s wife Mary Kilobi has responded to former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa who claimed that they had an affair.
While speaking in a political function at Amalemba Grounds in Kakamega County on Sunday February 13th, Echesa once again claimed that he had an affair with Mary Kilobi before she got married to Atwoli.
Kilobi was quick to respond to Echesa’s claim insisting that the former Sports CS was making the allegation to get back to her husband.
Kilobi insisted that although her profession as a journalist has given her an opportunity to interact with prominent figures, she has never interacted with Echesa.
She stated that she only saw him at her Kajiado home but they have never interacted on a personal level.
“I’ve said this and i will say it again. I am a Journalist and not a politician, not even once have I seemed to have taken sides while discharging my duty. Its is not right and will never be that politicians find it pleasant to keep mentioning my name in rallies,” wrote Kilobi in part.
She further added that she doesn’t even have Echesa’s phone number. She termed Echesa’s remarks as disrespectful and totally unacceptable.
Kilobi said Echesa was settling political scores by attacking her and lying that they were dating.
” Attacking Kilobi for trying to get back at my Husband is Cowardly! Just for clarity as a journalist, I have interacted with many news sources but not even once have i with one Rashid Echesa, only have i seen him in our Kajiado home. I’ve never even had his phone number! Therefore I consider what he said yesterday for the sake of settling politicals scores very disrespectful! and totally unacceptable!”
Kilobi further slammed Echesa for disrespecting people who have helped him in life. The politician is a class 7 dropout yet he rose to be a CS thanks to deep political connections. (However, President Uhuru Kenyatta fired Echesa in May 2019 and replaced him with Amina Mohammed because of numerous scandals at the Sports docket.)
In his CV, which he submitted to the National Assembly Committee on Appointments, Echesa did not reveal the schools he attended.
Speaker Justin Muturi, who chairs the committee, was said to have had reservations but went on to approve his nomination because Echesa had the backing of DP William Ruto.
Rashid Echesa schooled at Shubale Primary school in his hometown where he dropped out at class seven due to lack of school fees.
“You may not even have respect for people who have helped you in life like SG Atwoli not even for the President of Kenya but there’s a Supreme Power above you that will make you know that he owns the Universe. In another past days earlier, Kilobi gave Echesa and Didmus Barasa a dressing down for dragging her name into their political campaigns.
“It’s Hillarious that some politicians, the likes of Rashid Echesa and Didmus Barasa have continuously made this KILOBI name inseparable with their manifesto in their rallies. I know it sounds really nice but Kenyans are eager to hear the “great plans” you purport to have for them. Kumbe hamna sera? Uza Sera wadau wachana na Kilobi she’s not a politician neither do I have plans of contesting. Ironically most guys who shout the loudest about Kilobi the “25 year old” have been frequent visitors in Kajiado? And by the way mkae mkijua kejeli zenu zinanijengea ushuhuda wa kishindo! Anyway wacha Mungu atete na wanaoteta nami! Profiter de ma vie!” Kilobi wrote.
