World marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum had a side chick and his wife Asenath Cheruto didn’t know until his death.
The concubine came out to claim she had a secret affair with the late athlete following his death.
The lady identified on TikTok as Jeylaa Jeylaa7 recorded a series of emotional videos mourning Kelvin Kiptum.
She also showed off gifts allegedly bought to her by Kiptum ahead of Valentine’s Day.
Kiptum’s wife Asentah Cheruto was aware of this other alleged affair between the lady and her late husband.
Cheruto had only kind words to say about her late husband when she spoke to the media following his death.
She disclosed that she met the world marathon record holder when they were both students in high school.
“We first crossed paths when he was in Form 2, and our bond blossomed into love from there,” Cheruto said.
Cheruto and Kiptum’s relationship evolved steadily, eventually leading to marriage.
“We are blessed with two children, aged four and seven,” she said.
Kelvin Kiptum died alongside his Rwandan coach in a grisly car along the Elgeyo Marakwet-Ravine road on Sunday night February 11, 2024.
The 24-year-old athlete was driving the ill-fated vehicle heading towards Ravine when the accident occurred.
Kiptum lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road and plunged 60 metres into a ditch on his left side before hitting a big tree.
Police said Kiptum and his coach died on the spot as a result of the impact while a female passenger identified as Sharon Chepkurui Kosgei Keiyo suffered life-threatening injuries.
