Njugush: I Struggled To Propose To My Wife Because I Was Broke. Our Wedding Was Very Cheap

Comedian Njugush married his campus sweetheart Celestine Ndinda in a very modest wedding.

The comedian met Celestine at Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) where they were both students.

The two lovebirds got married on December 16, 2016 in beautiful garden wedding held at Evergreen Gardens in Muthaiga, Nairobi.

In the wedding, top on the lineup was his friend, a TV producer and director Abel Mutua, who was his best man and his wife Judy the maid of honour. Former Tahidi High actress Jackie Matubia was part of the bridal team.

Njugush opened up about his wedding while speaking during an interview with Dr. Ofweneke on his Tonight show on TV47.

Njugush said proposing to Wakavinye was one thing that gave him a hard time since he was not financially stable.

“Proposing was challenging. She use to send me ideas on how to propose,” Njugush said.

Njugush added that one of the ‘simple’ ideas he got, required going to a picnic near a water body like Lake Naivasha where they had to hire a car and also eat. All these require money, yet he was so broke at the time.

The comedian said the only thing he bought was the engagement  ring, adding that Celestine is a very understanding woman.

“I went to some place in Luthuli Street where they sell and inscribe word on rings,” Njugush said, revealing that this is a secret that he had never told his wife.

He advise those whose who wanted to propose on a budget to avoid diamond and gold rings and stick to cheap classy ones.

The comedian further revealed that he spent less than Ksh400,000 on his wedding.

“My wedding cost less than KSh400,000. The church alone was Ksh50,000 and they provided tents, seats and sound equipment,” he said.

Njugush and Wakavinye exchanged vows at PCEA Evergreen, Runda.
