In a heartfelt appeal, renowned gospel artist Evelyn Wanjiru is calling on Kenyans to come together in support of her fellow singer, Anastacia Mukabwa, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment in India.
In a touching video shared online, Wanjiru documented her visit to Mukabwa, capturing the emotional moment when the ailing musician saw her friend in a foreign land.
Wanjiru used this platform to solicit financial support for Mukabwa’s medical expenses, emphasizing the critical role community solidarity plays in such times of need.
She highlighted Mukabwa’s significant contribution to the gospel music scene in East Africa and urged fans to give whatever they could.
“Support if you’re a Kenyan and watching this video. We are in India to stand with Mam Anastasia. You all know what she’s been going through. This process has not been an easy journey.
“We request you to give whatever the Lord has placed in your heart. She has been a blessing in the entire East Africa. And so this time, we want to be a blessing to her, just whatever you can. We are here to support her in person. Give and let’s conquer. We have to overcome this in Jesus’ name,” she implored.
In her caption, Wanjiru added: “By the grace of God, we got to visit minister @annastaciakiatukivue in the hospital. While in India, Pastor Harrison, his wife Esther @agundabweni, and I got to pray with her. Let’s keep giving in support of her medical bill. Channel your contribution through: Pay bill Number: 4224960 Account Number: ANNASTACIA…”
Mukabwa, who is widely known for her hit song “Kiatu Kivue,” had earlier reached out to her fans and well-wishers, detailing her health struggles and the need for financial assistance.
She recounted her journey, starting with misleading mammogram results in 2023 that suggested there was no cause for concern.
However, a biopsy earlier this year revealed she had breast cancer, a diagnosis that she struggled to accept.
“I started tests in 2023 and the medics misled me, telling me the mammogram tests were nothing to worry about, so I just relaxed,” Mukabwa shared.
“This year, however, I went for biopsy tests, and the results were very saddening. I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I even struggled to accept the results.”
Mukabwa underwent numerous tests to confirm the diagnosis. She expressed gratitude for the support she has received, particularly noting the counseling from Miss Atwoli and the unwavering support of her husband and family.
“We have come from far and I know this is the last medical trip we are making. God will take control, so my fans out there can help me so that we hit the target we need for treatment,” she appealed.
The estimated cost for Mukabwa’s treatment is Ksh3 million, a daunting sum that she hopes to raise with the support of her fans and the broader community.
