The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution has recommended the closure of the Cyber Harassment charges that Willy Paul was facing, after Diana Marua filed a complain.
The ODPP reached the decision after establishing that the forensic evidence against Willy was obtained without a court order.
“Article 31 of the constitution provides for a right to privacy. This right is not absolute but can only be limited by a court order. Therefore the forensic evidence obtained herein was illegally obtained hence inadmissible,” read a letter from the ODPP.
ODPP further said it had vacated its recommendations for Willy Paul to be charged.
Willy Paul shared warning bloggers to update the old stories about his charges before it is too late.
“Didn’t want to post this. I have no intention of messing anything for anyone but people need to know what really happened. People need to know the truth. Yes it’s about time. I hope all the corporates get to see this. My request to all bloggers that posted this story please delete it and update it with the truth before it’s too late,” he said.
In an additional statement, Willy Paul recounted the moment he was taken to the police station over the offence.
The singer claimed that the arrest was staged and was actuated by malice and intention of humiliating him.
“I am grateful to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution for carryiung out their duties with integrity and examining the case against me in accordance with the constitution,” Willy Paul said.
