Khadija Kopa, the mother of renown Bongo singer Zuchu, has admitted that she is being hit on by younger men.
The legendary Taarab singer opened up on the subject in an interview with Wasafi FM when she was asked if she had gotten a man to settle down with.
She however noted that she is not interested in the younger men, who are commonly referred to as Ben 10s.
“Wanatokezea lakini sitaki vijana. Mungu hajanijalia kupata wanaume watu wazima, sijui kwa nini.(Men are approaching me but I don’t want youths. I don’t know why God has not blessed me with a mature man),” she said.
“Watoto wa siku hizi hawaogopi,” she further said.
The interviewers further pressed her wanting to know how she responds to the youthful men eyeing her.
“I tell them you are very young than me. We don’t deserve each other. Find a fellow youth because I have no time for that,” she explained.
The 61-year old musician lost her husband, Jaffary Ally, after a short illness in June 2013.
In February last year, she said that she was ready to give marriage a second chance, while setting conditions for the person who is willing to take her as a wife.
Khadija said that the man should be in question should be seeking a lifelong partner and should be aged 50 and above.
Zuchu, her daughter has also been making headlines on her relationship with Diamond, who happens to be her boss.
She recently announced that they had parted ways after pondering thoroughly about the issue. According to her, their love lacked respect hence the decision to call it quits.
Earlier, Khadija Kopa had however said that she didn’t recognize her daughter’s relationship as Diamond hadn’t been formally introduced to her.
“I do not know her relationship. Because the relationships that we old people know according to the order of our culture, is when someone comes to the house and introduces themselves, that’s when you know about the relationships. But I don’t know foreign relations. Ask her about the relationship,” she said in an interview.
