Vioja Mahakamani Actor Gibson Gathu Suffers Severe Kidney Failure After 20 Years Battling Diabetes

Veteran Vioja Mahakami actor Gibson Gathu Mbugua need Ksh6 million to undergo urgent kidney transplant to save his life.

Gibson, who is popularly known for his role as the prosecutor on the KBC TV drama series Vioja Mahakamani, suffered kidney failure in 2020 and has been undergoing dialysis twice a week to survive.

People with kidney failure may survive days to weeks without dialysis, depending on the amount of kidney function they have, how severe their symptoms are, and their overall medical condition.

The Vioja Mahakamani actor suffered kidney failure as a result of battling diabetes for over 20 years.

Each kidney is made up of millions of tiny filters called nephrons. Over time, high blood sugar from diabetes can damage blood vessels in the kidneys as well as nephrons so they don’t work as well as they should. Many people with diabetes also develop high blood pressure, which can damage kidneys too. [sic]
