“Usaidiwe Kupata Mtoto?” Jeff Koinange Shares How He Fixed His Infertility Problems

Jeff Koinange says the late Nelson Mandela asked, if he needed help to get his wife pregnant.

Jeff Koinange has shared his journey to overcome infertility as he tried to get a child with his wife, Sonia. In a touching conversation on the Engage Talk Show, Jeff also narrated a remarkable encounter with the late South Africa president Nelson Mandela, that he still remembers to date.

During the talk show, Jeff gives an account of meeting Nelson Mandela at a press conference. Mandela, known for his flawless ability to connect with people, recognized Jeff and revealed a surprising connection.

“He mentioned that my grandfather had been a chief, and that revelation left me awestruck,” Jeff says.

He says Nelson Mandela asked him when he’d get to see a grandchild, Jeff continues as he makes a joke out of their interaction, “Hold that Mandela thought for a moment.

At that time, my wife and I had our greatest challenge, having a child. I don’t know if the machine wasn’t working anyway,” the Citizen TV star told the legendary statesman.

Jeff fondly remembered Mandela’s inquiries, “He would ask me, have you gotten me a grandson yet? I would tell him, Mr. President, we are trying.”

Mandela’s response was so empathetic, as he offered his assistance, prompting Jeff to laugh wondering in his mind, “This guy spent 27 years in prison; he wants to help me out?”

Jeff further shared the challenging journey he and Sonia had to become parents.

They explored various interventions, including in vitro fertilization (IVF), in their quest for a child.

They often found themselves in the company of friends and their children, a constant reminder of their own heartache, he says.

He says, a friend extended a lifeline by suggesting a clinic in Barcelona, Spain, as a potential solution. Without hesitation, Jeff and Sonia decided to take the chance, a decision that would change their lives forever.

Jeff couldn’t contain his excitement about sharing the news with Nelson Mandela’s office when it finally happened.

“I called his office and told them, can you tell Madiba that we finally have a son, and he is 8 months old, we are heading back to Nairobi. Can we bring him for Madiba to bless him?” Jeff adds

Plans were put in place and the late Mandela touched Jeff’s son on the cheek, to bless him just as he wished.
