The return of Manchester United legend, Cristiano Ronaldo to the Premier League has been met with a lot of hype and coverage from the British media.
Football fans have been talking about his return and the wonderful things he is expected to do in Manchester United that the league as a whole.
And Cristiano was allowed to make his second debut for the Reds, he never disappointed. The Portuguese forward scored two amazing goals against Newcastle on Saturday and made the league witness some of the unprecedented things.
Here are some of the actions that were not captured on camera that Cristiano did during his second debut in Man U shirt.
Goal Rush was paralyzed
On Saturday, seven Premier League games including the match between Manchester United and Newcastle were supposed to be played at the same time.
Since the matches were to be played at the same time, they were to be broadcasted under The Goal Rush – a TV program that provides live football scores for the Premier League matches. That, however, did not happen as all the highlights and attention were driven to Old Trafford where Cristiano Ronaldo was playing for his team.
Not even a goal update or key events from the other six matches were shown while Cristiano was playing.
Change of commentators
Since Goal Rush was scrapped, there was also a change in the commentary team for the match at Manchester.
On normal occasions when Goal Rush is on, Joe Speight is the one who comments on the day’s main match and gives highlights of the other matches but on Saturday, September 11, it was the fan’s favorite commenters Peter Drury and Jim Beglin who were on the mic.
The Glazers were at the stadium
It is only on serious occasions that you see owners of a club like Manchester United be at the stadium on a matchday. On Saturday, however, the Glazers, the club’s majority shareholders, were at the stand watching Cristiano Ronaldo play.
It was the first time in two years that Man Utd owner Avram Glazer was at Old Trafford watching a game courtesy of Ronaldo.
Only one jersey was worn by fans
In most cases during a game between Ole Gunner’s side and the team, the focus is normally on other Manchester United players such as Pual Pogba and Bruno Fernandes. But on Saturday’s game, all the focus was on Cristiano Ronaldo that all almost all the fans that were at the stadium were wearing his jersey.
