Tahidi High Omosh: Friends Led Me Down A Destructive Path Of Alcohol And Drugs

It’s a tale of triumph over adversity as Joseph Kamau, better known as Omosh Kizangila from the hit show “Tahidi High,” gets candid about his battle with addiction in a revealing interview on Obinna TV.

The beloved actor shared how his first taste of alcohol came right after completing his secondary education—a decision that spiraled into a life-altering addiction.

Omosh reflected on the pivotal role that friends played in shaping his journey.

“In life, if someone decides your future, it’s not a teacher, not a parent, it’s a friend… the friends you choose in life… those are the ones who define your destiny.”

He admitted that being surrounded by older friends led him down a destructive path of drinking and smoking, a habit he indulged in often, particularly on weekends.

Following high school, Omosh worked as a conductor, a job that fueled his addiction.

He would spend his earnings on alcohol and drugs, leading to a catastrophic decline in his health and eventually causing him to drop out of college.

“I underwent surgery because alcohol affected my body,” he revealed candidly, citing his struggles with stomach ulcers.

However, the battle didn’t end there; even after recovery, he found himself returning to his old ways, heavily influenced by the same friends.

As Omosh’s fame grew, so did his reliance on alcohol.

He became known for frequenting bars, often drinking to the point of unconsciousness.

The toll on his health was severe; he described a harrowing scenario where he could only consume alcohol before eating, stating, “A large percentage of my blood was purple… I couldn’t eat if I didn’t drink alcohol first.”

Despite numerous attempts to quit, Omosh found himself trapped in the cycle of addiction, experiencing violent withdrawal symptoms whenever he tried to abstain.

His turning point came unexpectedly; he took it upon himself to hold a meeting focused on change, which ultimately led to his decision to regain control.

Now sober and saved, Omosh is determined to use his experience as a cautionary tale, urging the youth to steer clear of the pitfalls of alcohol.

As a proud father of three daughters, Omosh Kizangila’s story stands as a powerful testament to resilience, reminding everyone that it’s never too late to change one’s fate.
