Ex-governor Mike Sonko announced that he will reward anyone with information that will lead to the arrest of Masten Milimu Wanjala.
Milimu, a suspected serial killer in the murder of 14 teenagers, is believed to have escaped from the prison on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.
He escaped from the Jogoo Road Prison under unclear circumstance on the day he was expected in court for the mention of the case against him.
Officers on duty realized that the suspect was missing at 7 am Wedesday when they were taking a roll call.
Sonko said that he will give a reward of Kshs200,000 to anyone that will aid Milimu’s arrest.
Sonko’s good gesture however received some critics especially when he recently told the court to refund the money he paid as bail in a case against him.
“Si juzi ulisema hauna hata ya kulisha familia yakoo…. Utatoa wapi mia mbili ya kunipa, anyway hata mimi naomba hio animal ikamatwee,” Arnold Saito Mutave responded to Sonko’s post.
While another one said that Milimu was just mentally challenged.
“The real animals are right now on the campaign trail. This guy is just mentally disturbed,” Khisa Maruti said.
“We haven’t been told how he escaped with the kind of security accorded capital offenders, the two hundred K will go to the same who organized for his escape. Probe into his escape is what should be instituted and he be apprehended the earliest possible,” Daniel Oguta said.
Milimu confessed to the police to have killed the teenagers and even sucked blood of some of his victims who came from Nairobi, Western Kenya and Machakos.
He is yet to take a formal plea on the charges against him.
