Millicent Omanga found herself at the center of online scrutiny following the unveiling of her latest acquisition: a sleek, brand-new Range Rover Vogue 2024 model in a sophisticated shade of grey.
Taking to the X platform, Omanga shared images of her prestigious ride, expressing gratitude to a higher power for the accomplishment. “My new baby. Date of Birth, 2024. Ni God,” she captioned the post.
In an interview with a local publication, the outspoken politician disclosed that her acquisition came with a price tag of Ksh50 million.
“I traded the other Range and added some more to get this latest car,” she explained.
Omanga’s announcement triggered a flurry of reactions from X users, with opinions divided on the ostentatious display of wealth.
While some commended Omanga’s success and dedication reflected in her possession of the luxurious vehicle, others voiced criticism.
Responding to the backlash, Omanga defended her purchase, asserting that she is not accountable for the economic challenges faced by individuals in the country.
“It has been two years since I received any salary from the government, and anyone assuming that I obtained the funds from the government should realize that I have businesses. Do they even understand the extent of my tax contributions?” she questioned.
Emphasizing her financial independence, Omanga highlighted her significant tax contributions and reiterated that her decision to acquire the new car was driven by personal fulfillment.
“No. I pay significant amounts, and purchasing a new car is simply for my joy. I continuously upgrade my vehicles. If a new model emerges, I will still acquire another. This particular car was my dream, and therefore, I had to purchase it,” she affirmed.
Omanga’s unapologetic response underscores the complexities of public perception and individual autonomy in matters of personal wealth and expenditure.
