Diamond Platnumz is smiling all the way to the bank after starring in Netflix reality series ‘Young, famous and African’.
The Bongo singer who is in UK to promote his new EP spoke on how he benefitted from the Netflix reality during an interview with BBC Swahili.
Diamond disclosed that on the premiere day March 18th, his DM went crazy, with people from all over the world calling and sending him congratulatory messages.
He said he had a different experience working on the Netflix reality show. Unlike when he is shooting music videos, Diamond said ‘Young, famous and African’ took time to shoot.
“It was amazing doing the reality show. I wasn’t used to shooting shows. You know, music videos take a day or so. The show took like a month. Everything went perfectly and they had a great team. It proved to the world that Africans can deliver something like the best. That experience changed me,” Diamond said.
Diamond said he reaped big from ‘Young, famous and African’ in terms of financial gains and also increased fanbase across the world. He said that currently all his international shows are sold out.
“After the show, even people who never treated me well started calling me. It changed my life and added my fanbase. I have got a world tour after that. I respect that and I can’t wait for the next season to come.”
The Netflix reality series premiered on March 18th featuring a star-studded cast of the most talked-about male and female celebrities in Africa.
It follows 8 African celebrities who have a huge social media following and who usually receive intense media coverage across borders.
The reality series follows a crew of famed, affluent stars as they work and play, flirt and feud in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Diamond Platnumz and his baby mama Zari Hassan are among celebs who have been featured in the Netflix reality series.
The reality series has been the talk of discussions on social media since it premiered on March 18th.
