Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko took to his Twitter account, expressing his dissatisfaction with Jaba Juice. Known for its refreshing and unique blends, Jaba Juice has gained popularity among young enthusiasts and juice lovers. However, Sonko’s statement has stirred up a social media storm, with reactions ranging from disbelief to amusement.

Via his Twitter now X account, Mike Sonko says,”Hii Jaba juice sikunywi tena. Unakabwa na mkojo every 2 minutes ukijaribu kukojoa unaskia kukam na cum haitoki, mikojo haitoki. Stick inaingia ndani kama kichwa ya tortoise.”

Meaning, “I’ll not drink this Jaba juice again. You struggle with urine every 2 minutes, and when you try to urinate, you feel like ejaculating, and nothing comes out. Urine won’t come out. The stick goes in like the head of a tortoise.”

According to an online description seen by Kenyareports.com about Jaba Juice, Jaba, also known as miraa or khat, has served as a stimulant for many blue-collar workers for decades. It has fueled late-night shifts and energized the masses ever since its stimulant properties were discovered by the residents of Embu and Meru counties many years ago.

Over time, it has evolved into a crucial cash crop for local economies and continues to be a highly sought-after commodity in the export market.

However, miraa has faced challenges due to the negative associations linked to its traditional consumption. The practice of chewing a large ball of leaves, a common method, has been perceived as unsightly and unprofessional. Additionally, the constant chewing often leads to tired and sore jaws, accompanied by a distinctive ‘leafy smell’ in the mouth.

In response to these challenges, producers of Jaba Juice claim they have innovated a new way to enjoy miraa, aiming to eliminate the negative connotations that have surrounded it over the years.

Their groundbreaking product, Jaba Juice, is crafted from 100% locally grown, natural ingredients, without the addition of flavors, colors, sweeteners, or preservatives. This ensures a product that can be enjoyed without compromising on presentation. Bid farewell to the era of large miraa balls, aching jaws, and lingering aftertastes and smells!
