J Blessing was met with accusations of sacrificing his son after he died at Aga Khan Hospital.
The renowned video director and his ex Chantelle lost their son Kyle on July 30, 2015, when he was only six months old.
J Blessing, whose real name is Jibril Blessing, parted ways with Chantelle but the memories of their son are still fresh in his mind.
In an interview with CTA on November 6, 2023, J Blessing addressed the accusations that swirled around him, claiming he had sacrificed his late son and fled to Uganda.
The video director clarified that these claims were baseless and went on to provide a detailed account of the events that led to his son’s tragic passing and the challenges he faced in Uganda.
J Blessing said he was going through a lot when he lost his son.
“They said nilienda kupata nguvu Uganda… I think I learned so much from him and that at the time I was going through so much,” he said.
The video director said he went to Uganda to set up a studio, and had nothing to do with him fleeing following his son’s death.
“There is so much that happened in Uganda, I don’t want to talk about it. I did a couple of videos with big artists. A couple of videos I did for Ugandans. When I was about to come back home, the guy that invited me akahepa with the money,” he said.
Upon his return to Kenya, J Blessing faced further complications when it came to his son’s health.
The child was initially in good condition but began experiencing health issues, particularly concerning one of his legs. The situation took a turn for the worse, with daily news of the child’s deteriorating health.
“Nilikuwa nimekauka kabisa so uko (UG) nimeibiwa and also many other things I do not want to talk about, so coming here, the mtoi (Kyle) needed attention. Kwa hosi he was just normal, he was supposed to get the 6-month immunisation injection.
“So we delayed kidogo. During that time RK had a project, and he called me. And then now that’s when the problem started. Alikuwa sawa but mguu ni ka ilioza. Sijui like every single day, there was a news that mtoi anaget worse,” he said.
Blessing remained confident his son would recover even as doctors advised him to take the child to India or switch off the machines.
However, the baby died before he made the medical intervention to take him to India for further treatment.
“I got a call from the hosi eh your child had gone but we resuscitated him back. I told God if this is how you want it I do not want to see you.
“God had already dealt with the mum. So by the time we were going to the hospital I think the mum had already known that he had passed. Me I couldn’t.”
J Blessing said his friend RK cleared the Ksh1 million bill that his son’s treatment had accrued.
The Music director also noted that his son’s death played part in his breakup with Chantelle.
