Shakib Cham Lutaaya, the husband of South African-based socialite and entrepreneur Zari Hassan, has clarified his role within their family dynamic, asserting that he is not a babysitter to Zari’s children but rather a necessary father figure.
The 32-year-old Ugandan businessman highlighted that his wife employs several house helps who handle daily activities and childcare responsibilities.
Shakib emphasized that his interactions with the children stem from his genuine desire to bond with them, rather than any obligation to babysit.
“Who do I babysit? Her kids are all grown-ups. I have to show them a father figure because I am with their mum,” Shakib stated, pointing out that Zari’s five children are well cared for by household staff.
Zari, a mother of five, shares her two younger children with Tanzanian bongo artist Diamond Platnumz, while her three older children are from her late husband, South African tycoon Ivan Ssemwanga.
“Zari has two or three maids where she stays in South Africa, so they are doing everything. As a father, I don’t have to be there to please their mum; I have to step in and entertain and have fun with everyone,” Shakib explained.
He further elaborated on his relationship with Zari’s older teenage children, noting that they share a respectful and cordial bond.
Shakib mentioned that while he frequently shares moments with the younger children on social media, the older boys prefer to stay away from the cameras.
“They respect me a lot. That’s not how they see me. The boys are not the kind of people who like cameras a lot. Most of the time, we are together. I go to South Africa, I think, once a month,” Shakib added.
Shakib’s comments shed light on the family’s dynamics, portraying him as a supportive and involved figure in the children’s lives, while respecting their boundaries and preferences.
