Comedian turned activist Eric Omondi has said that he is ready to serve his term in jail.
In a post he shared on Instagram, Eric however said that the timelines for his sentencing and increment of fuel prices are very suspicious.
He is however positive that the future holds something greater.
“So today the Courts have sentenced me and these young guys to One Month in Prison. We have been sentenced for fighting the high cost of Living. It is also Weird that the Government Increased Fuel Prices yesterday and these weirdly Coincided with our Court date which is for the same fight we have been Sentenced. I am ready to serve that one month…I know Tomorrow we will be VICTORIOUS,” he wrote.

On Friday, Eric was sentenced to jail alongside 15 individuals after being found guilty of assembling unlawful by demonstrating over the high cost of living. They were charged in February.
They however have the alternative of paying Kshs10,000 fine each. Milimani Chief Magistrated Lucas Onyima convicted the accused after they pleaded guilty to the offence.
“I have considered the mitigation made and the nature of the offence which is a misdemeanour and the fact that the prosecution has said that they are first-time offenders,”he ruled, adding that, “I have also considered that they have saved the court’s judicial time. Each of the suspects is hereby fined Sh10,000 in default to serve one month in jail.”
