“We don’t play politics or PR na life ya any Kenyan,” Sonko says as Conjestina joins his security team.
Former Kenyan boxer Conjestina Achieng has begun a new chapter in her life following her rehabilitation treatment.
Sonko shared photos on his social media accounts, capturing a hot looking Conjestina elegantly dressed in a white suit.
With her neatly trimmed hair and holding Sonko’s briefcase, Conjestina arrived at Sonko’s Upperhill office.
Sonko emphasized that Conjestina’s journey of recovery should serve as a powerful reminder that everyone deserves a second chance.
“As Conje embarks on this new chapter of her life, she carries the aspirations and hopes of young aspiring boxers. Her story serves as a testament that everyone should have an opportunity to prove themselves, irrespective of their past or present circumstances,” he expressed.
A decade ago, Conje faced the risk of fading away as she grappled with financial and mental health challenges following her departure from boxing in 2011.
Her promising career came to an abrupt halt as she began experiencing mental health issues.
In September 2022, the esteemed boxer found herself admitted to the Mombasa Women Empowerment Network Hospital in Miritini.
Due to her deteriorating health and mental state, she had been admitted to various medical facilities.
Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko stepped in to assist the boxing champion after paying her a visit while she was hospitalized.
Sonko generously gifted her with boxing equipment and facilitated her admission to multiple rehabilitation centers in Nairobi and Diani Beach.
Now, after eleven months have passed, Conjestina appears to be making significant progress on her path to recovery.
