Popular comedian Felix Omondi, better known as Dr. King’ori, has opened up for the first time about his unexpected departure from NTV after a decade-long run.
Speaking on the Mic Cheque Podcast, King’ori revealed that his decision to leave wasn’t sudden—it was part of a personal journey that had reached its natural end.
King’ori described his 10-year tenure at NMG as a goal he had set from the start.
“When I joined Nation, I remember telling God I wanted to be there for ten years. When I realized it had been exactly ten years, I knew it was time to move on,” he explained.
But it wasn’t just the clock ticking that led to his departure. King’ori admitted that a growing negative atmosphere within the company contributed to his exit.
According to the comedian, the once-supportive environment became increasingly toxic, with whispers and undercurrents that affected both his morale and the quality of his work.
“I don’t like being distracted, and I felt the negative energy starting to impact the show,” he shared.
Rather than allow the negativity to taint his popular show The Wicked Edition, King’ori made the bold choice to walk away.
“I decided it was better to leave than stay and risk the show’s quality being affected,” he added.
Perhaps most surprising is that King’ori managed to retain full rights to The Wicked Edition, which continues to thrive on YouTube.
He explained that the show was initially underestimated by some at NMG, allowing him to secure its ownership without much pushback. “They didn’t see its potential, but I did,” he remarked.
Now, free from the constraints of corporate influence, Dr. King’ori is focused on taking The Wicked Edition to new heights—and proving that sometimes leaving is the best decision you can make.
