Citizen TV anchor Yvonne Okwara silently parted ways with her husband Andrew Matole after 9 years of marriage.
The public only realized something was amiss between Yvonne and Andrew after she stopped using her husband’s surname ‘matole’ while introducing herself while presenting news on Citizen TV.
Additionally, observers noted that her wedding ring, previously a constant accessory, is no longer worn.
People have been speculating that Andrew and Yvonne parted ways because of childlessness in their marriage.
Andrew Matole reportedly expressed desire for children, but Yvonne Okwara’s focus was on her career took precedence.
In a past interview Yvonne Okwara opened up about her decision not to have children despite being married to Andrew Matole close to a decade.
Asked about the absence of children in their marriage, the Citizen TV anchor expressed a resolute stance, stating that she does not feel pressured by societal expectations to conform to traditional norms of parenthood.
“People talked. People said things. That’s what comes with having a job in the limelight,” Yvonne Okwara said in a past interview with a local outlet.
However, she emphasized that external opinions have never dictated her decisions, especially regarding such deeply personal matters.
”Ever. Because I’m such an intrinsic person, if there’s ever any pressure it would have to be from myself. Never from the outside world,” she said.
Yvonne Okwara and Andrew Matole got married in a low key strictly private white wedding in December 2014.
