On most occasions, you are likely to hear those in the art industry telling a story of a humble beginning, how they were raised in the ghetto and have a tough childhood in general.
This is, however, not the case with all of them; some of these artists and celebrities, in general, were actually brought up in good families. Some of them their parents were not just rich but also had good political influence.
Here are some of the celebrities whose parents are politicians or work in senior government positions;
Lupita Nyong’o
It could be pretty obvious to find actress Lupita Nyong’o on this list. For those who don’t know, Lupita is the daughter of a seasoned politician and Kisumu Governor Professor Peter Anyang Nyong’o.
Lupita’s father has been in the government for the longest time, serving as a minister in various dockets. He is also the former MP of Kisumu Rural.
Kahush
Rapper Kahush is another celebrity who Kenyans are familiar with his family background thanks to the familiarity of his father.
Kahush’s father is Mutahi Kagwe, the current Cabinet Secretary for Health. Kagwe has also been in the political field for the longest time; he has served as an MP and Senator of Nyeri County.
Saumu Mbuvi
Saumu Mbuvi is one of the celebrities who have gained popularity due to the political influence of their parents. Saumu is the daughter of former Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko.
Her father also served as the Member of Parliament of Makadara and the first senator of Nairobi County.
Wema Sepetu
Wema Sepetu is one of the few Tanzanian celebrities who come from rich families. Her father, Ambassador Isaac Abraham Sepetu, is a prominent politician in Tanzania.
The model’s father served Tanzania as a government officer and a diplomat between 1982 to 1991.
Bernard Ndong
It may be tough to believe, but Citizen TV’s sports presenter is one of the celebrities from prominent families. Though he never lived with his father most often, his late father, Raymond Oloo Ndong, was one of the prominent people in the country during President Moi’s era.
Bernard’s father served as an assistant Trade minister in Moi’s regime. His father also served as a Member of Parliament of the Rangwe constituency in the ’90s.
Kajairo
This might be shocking to learn, but seasoned comedian Peter Kaimenyi alias Kajairo also comes from a prominent family. His father, Jacob Kaimenyi, served in President Uhuru’s government as Cabinet Secretary for Educations and that of Lands.
