Baringo Senator Gideon Moi sent Ford Kenya delegates into delirium when he jokingly narrated how Bungoma senator and Ford Kenya boss Moses Wetangula is a wash wash guy who deals in the fake gold business.
While recalling how he came to be an acquaintance of Wetangula, Mr Moi said he came to know Wetangula through his late brother Jonathan Moi.
And with time, Wetangula became so close to the family that he became a friend to all the Mois as well as their lawyer.
He went further to narrate how one-time Wetangula duped his brother into a gold business venture in Tanzania which to date has yet to materialize.
It’s only in 2019, when Wetangula was linked into a gold scam where the ruler of Dubai was conned millions of shillings.
In leaked audio, the Senator dropped the names of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition chief Raila Odinga to assure a Dubai gold investor believed to be Ali Zandi that their detained consignment would be released.
Wetang’ula assured Zandi, a business associate of United Arab Emirates ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, that he had talked to Raila who in turn reached out to Uhuru to secure the release of alleged containers that had gold in it.
