Police in Naivasha are investigating an incident where a body of a man was found dumped near Delamere farm along Nairobi-Nakuru highway.
The body of the man, who was smartly dressed and had a wire around his neck, was discovered in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
It is suspected that the man was murdered through strangulation before his body was transferred to the spot where he was found.
A similar incident was witnessed last month where a body of another man murdered in the same way was found at the same spot. It was alleged that he had been killed elsewhere and his body ferried to the scene.
Cases of bodies being dumped in Naivasha have been on the rise for the past few years with the police accused of being involved in some murders.
Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed the Wednesday morning incident revealing that initial investigations indicated that the man was murdered through strangulation.
“From the look of things, the man was murdered elsewhere through strangulation before he was dumped on this scene along the highway,” Waweru said.
One of the witnesses identified as Sally Njeri said that they discovered the man’s body early in the morning as they headed to work.
“Some people claim to have seen a white car dump the body before speeding to Nairobi and this is the second time such an incident has occurred and it’s worrying,” she said.
The superintendent in charge of the Naivasha hospital Dr Angeline Ithondeka earlier on expressed her concern over the number of unclaimed bodies in their mortuary.
She said that most of the bodies that are taken to the facility by police officers are never claimed, thus forcing them to dispose them after a certain time.
“Police have in the past collected bodies murdered elsewhere and dumped in Naivasha and left them in our mortuary stretching our services,” Ithondeka said.
She said that the majority of those murdered were young men adding that they did not have documents and police had to collect fingerprints for identification.
