Tanzanian gospel singer Rose Muhando has opened up about the painful rejection she faced from close friends and colleagues during her battle with illness in 2019.
In a recent church sermon, which was shared online, Muhando revealed the profound loneliness and struggles she endured when her health took a severe downturn.
Muhando recounted that when she fell sick, the people she thought she could rely on abandoned her.
Even the artists she had worked with, some of whom she considered close friends, turned their backs on her during her time of need.
“I asked my colleagues, the ones I worked with, to help me, but they told me it was my cross to bear,” Muhando testified.
“After 17 years of serving God, I found myself alone in the middle of this trial.”
At one point, the emotional pain and isolation became so overwhelming that she prayed for God to take her life, hoping for an end to her suffering.
“I asked God, while in pain, why He allowed me to go through all of this. It felt like someone was stabbing me in the chest, but I couldn’t see who was hurting me. Each time I was stabbed, blood would come out, and I didn’t know what was happening. I even asked God to reveal my mistakes so I could repent. The insults, the online abuse, the trials—I endured so much that I wanted Him to just take me,” she shared.
Despite the deep rejection and hurt, Muhando urged her supporters to allow her to continue singing and reconnect with her passion for gospel music.
Her faith in Christianity has been her source of strength throughout these challenges.
“If you see me singing, let me sing. If you see me doing anything for God, let me be. I know what He has done for me,” Muhando said.
Muhando’s illness, which remains undisclosed, left her financially drained.
However, after visiting Kenya’s Apostle Ng’ang’a, where prayers were offered, she shared that she experienced healing.
The gospel icon’s story of resilience and faith continues to inspire many as she works to reclaim her place in the gospel music world.
