Wycliffe Oparanya, the newly appointed Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development, stirred the pot at a lively celebratory gathering held at his residence in Karen.
This event followed his official swearing-in ceremony at State House, Nairobi.
During the festive occasion, Oparanya had the crowd in stitches as he openly introduced his two wives.
Known for his transparency regarding his personal life, the newly minted CS took a moment to express his heartfelt gratitude to his first wife for her steadfast support over the years.
“This is the first lady, the foundation of this home. This is the woman I started life with. The others have come along because this one has groomed and cared for me. This first lady is from Busia, which explains why many of my in-laws from Busia are here today,” Oparanya stated.
He further praised her contributions, saying, “I am deeply grateful to her for protecting me and this entire family. In my absence, she is in charge.”
Oparanya then introduced his second wife, Sharon Wakhu, highlighting her role in ensuring his health and well-being.
“Her name is Sharon Wakhu Oparanya, and she resides in Runda. If you hear I am in Runda, that’s where I am,” he quipped, prompting laughter from the attendees.
He ended his speech with a humorous query, “I wonder if I have forgotten anyone?” which only added to the merriment of the gathering as he was likely implying Mary Biketi.

Having previously served as the Governor of Kakamega, Oparanya has talked about his family dynamics, which include two wives and a girlfriend named Mary Biketi.
He has indicated that the three women share a close-knit friendship characterized by mutual respect.
However, Mary Biketi was notably absent from the homecoming celebration but took to social media to congratulate Oparanya on his cabinet appointment.
She shared a photo of the new Cooperatives CS seated at his office moments after his swearing-in, illustrating her support and pride in his new role.
