Rarely do footballers get associated with Guinness World Records. However, they have been a few players who have found themselves appearing in the historic book. Some of those players include;
Petr Cech – Most Clean Sheets
Petr Cech is undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers of his time. It is his prolific performance between the stick that earned him not one but two places in the Guinness World Record book.
Cech who played for both Arsenal and Chelsea holds the record of keeping the highest number of clean sheets in the Premier League.
During his playing days, Cech kept 181 clean sheets while plying his trade for the two London clubs.
Cech also holds the record of being the only keeper who has won the Golden Gove with two different clubs.
Cristiano Ronaldo – Most International Goals
Cristiano Ronaldo is the most recent player to enter the Guinness Book of records. The 36-year-old forward entered the book after becoming the top international goalscorer in men’s football history.
The Manchester United player reached a record of 111 goals for his country, Portugal as scoring two goals against Ireland.
The record was previously held by Iranian legend Ali Daei, who scored 109 goals for his country between 1993 and 2006.
Tim Howard – Most Saves In A World Cup Match
The former Everton and Manchester United might have not the best career in the Premier League, but during the 2014 World Cup while playing for his country, The US, Howard showed his quality.
In a Round of 16 matches between the United States and Belgium, Howard made 16 saves in the game, the most saves made by a keeper in World Cup history.
Christian Benteke – The Fastest Goal In International Matches
In his best, Crystal Palace player might be the most legal striker to play against. He can score some of the most glorious goals.
Benteke holds the record for the fastest goal scored in 8.1 seconds while playing for his country, Belgium against Gibraltar in a World Cup qualifier game in 2016.
Jone Samuelsen – Longest Headed Goal Scored
If you thought Robin van Persie’s header goal in the 2010 world cup match between the Netherlands and Spain was the longest headed goal, then you are wrong. It is the former Norwegian midfielder, Jone Samuelsen that holds the longest-headed goal.
In a competitive match between ODD Grenland and Tromso Idrettslag, Samuelsen scored a fantastic goal 58.13 meters away from the goal.
Dele Alli – Most Nutmegs In 30 Seconds
Dele Alli might not be the best player in the Premier League at the moment, but in 2017, he became a Guinness World record holder after he completed the most nutmegs in 30 seconds.
Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, a former Tottenham player, was the player on the receiving end of Alli’s nutmegs at the club’s training ground back in 2017.
Nicklas Bendtner – Fastest goal scored by a PL substitute
Nicklas Bendtner’s stay at Arsenal might not be as decorated compared to the club’s legend such as Thierry Henry and the rest. But in his six seasons stay at the club, he managed to score 45 goals and one of those goals was the winning strike against Arsenal rivals, Tottenham in December 2007 when he came off the bench in the 76th minute to score in six seconds after getting into the pitch.
The time record remains a Guinness World Record in the Premier League.
