“Naona Aibu Sana” Bahati Reveals The Biggest Mistake Of His Life

Bahati has recalled the moment he decided to betray a person who trusted and supported him the most.

The singer turned his back on president William Ruto, who was the first person to know about his intentions of vying for the Mathare MP seat in the 2022 elections.

Having confided in him about the intention, the now head of state supported Bahati in his mission for the Mathare people but when the time to vie came, Bahati chose to contest with a Jubilee ticket.

“Sitakangi kukaribia presdent juu naskia aibu because he trusted me. Its like your dad and then  I remember when nilimwambia hivyo akaniuliza what are you doing nikamwambia I am feeding people in Mathare, he gave  me the first food that I ever distributed in Mathare, I fed 5000 families, he gave me the first support,” he recounted during The Chipukeezy Show.

Bahati said he was confused by the fact that the then president, Uhuru Kenyatta, was supporting the opposition leader.

“I saved H.E William Ruto as the fifth a long time ago, but I was confused, you see you don’t want to be against the government…” the  father of five said.

He added that he believes he could be the current MP of Mathare had he vied on a UDA ticket. He however doesn’t regret his mistakes because it was a lesson for him.

“If I had that ticket ningekuwa bunge sahi, the biggest mistake I ever did in my life. Running away from UDA. I don’t regret anything because the key to success is starting when you are not ready,” Bahati said.

At the same time, he revealed that his Jubilee party did not support him and this saw him dig deeper in his pockets to fund his campaigns.

“Hii ticket Jubilee sisupportiwi. Nilipelekwa IEBC tu juu ticket ushapewa, it can not be reversed  and that’s why the only way was niirudishe niseme mimi nimewacha kusimama lakini kila kitu nilikuwa independent. I campaigned with my own money. I spent roughly Kshs27 million,” he said.

Jubilee as well as its parent party Azimio wanted Bahati to step down in favor of Anthony Oluoch of ODM.
