Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has responded to allegations of being physically assaulted by her child’s father, Samidoh.
The claims arose after a photo of Nyamu circulated online on Friday, showing what appeared to be a swollen black eye. However, Nyamu has since denied these allegations.
Taking to her Facebook page, Nyamu addressed the rumors and emphasized the seriousness of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) affecting Kenyan women.
She stated that she would not remain silent if she ever experienced such abuse and would seek justice. Nyamu clarified that she has not faced any physical abuse since she last spoke about it.
Nyamu also expressed her indifference to the discussions and mockery surrounding the incident on social media, particularly by women.
She stated that she is not concerned about what people say about her and urged them to express their opinions freely.
Nyamu admitted that when there is no discussion about her, she becomes somewhat worried.
In August 2021, Nyamu made accusations against Samidoh, claiming that he physically assaulted her and destroyed her phone.
During this incident, Nyamu revealed that she was three months pregnant with their second child.
“I have been beaten, my hair has been removed and I am just three months pregnant. We women are so stupid, we have to teach these violent guys a lesson. I am shocked, my daughter has cried,” she announced.
Fast forward, after the viral photo with black eye today, Karen Nyamu says the only beating she can get is with a msolokombo or diek. She confirms it after a fan told her to take the assault allegations lightly.
