The people believed to be responsible for the abduction of Ciku Muiruri’s daughter have been arrested.
The arrest of a suspect in the alleged Westlands abduction has resulted in the discovery of Ms. Erica Gachoka’s identity card, leading to the apprehension of key individuals involved.
One of the two suspects currently under police custody in relation to the reported abduction of Ms. Gachoka, who is the daughter of media personality Ciku Muiruri, was found in possession of the identity card in Weitethie, along Thika Road.
On June 5, 2023, Ms. Gachoka, along with Ms. Shanice Agose, 27, were kidnapped and have been missing for a week. It has come to light that the perpetrators were demanding a ransom of Sh500,000 to release them.
Via Facebook, Ciku Muriuki narrates events that lead to the rescue of her daughter and a friend.
“Yesterday evening, Erica and her friend Shanice were discovered in an unoccupied bedsitter in Gatokoyo, where they had been held captive throughout the previous week. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning when they hailed a Bolt Taxi. Upon entering the vehicle, they were trapped inside as the doors had child locks activated,” she says.
“There was a second individual hiding in the trunk. Erica attempted to resist, resulting in her being struck on the head and lower leg with a hammer, although her injuries were not severe. Shanice sustained cuts on her hand while attempting to grab a knife that had been held against her throat by the individual in the backseat,” she continues.
“Erica and Shanice reluctantly complied with their captors until the ransom was delivered. The location where they were held captive was dimly lit and concealed, with extremely chilly conditions. However, they were provided with daily meals.
The kidnappers demanded a sum of 500k for the release of both individuals. They communicated their demands through messages sent to me and Shanice’s mother,” Ciku reveals.
