Mejja aka Okwonkwo says he hasn’t released new music because of throat issues.
Mejja claimed in an interview with Citizen Radio and TV’s Mseto East Africa, show host Mzazi Willy M Tuva that 2023 has been difficult to begin since he had to take time off to recover his throat illness.
Mejja revealed that the pain lessened for a while, but at the beginning of this year, he spotted blood spots after coughs and he knew something wasn’t right.
“I’ve been experiencing throat problems. When I was performing nearly every day in Australia, I contracted the flu and was unable to obtain access to treatment.
Even after taking over-the-counter medications, there was intermittent pain when I returned home,” he says.
The Genge music star also mentioned that he continues to record low-pitched songs using his voice, and yesterday, he did a song with Jay Melody, a rising star from Tanzania, who recently had a show in Kenya.
“Please say a prayer for me, sitaki kuacha muziki, and keep in mind to stay hydrated and steer clear of sugary foods to keep yourself out of this situation,” he advises.
