A 10-year old boy is fighting for his life at the Siaya County Referral Hospital after sustaining serious burn injuries.
The incident is said to have occurred on Sunday October 17 when demons that had allegedly possessed the boy were being driven out.
The incident occurred at the Yamninia village in Gem Sub county, Siaya county.
The boy’s grandmother Rose Obare said that her grandson had the tendency of disappearing for days before reappearing.
Due to that, a woman approached her informing her that the boy was possessed and that was the reason for his behaviour while promising to help out.
“My grandson has problems, we believe he is possessed with evil spirits. His problems made us call for prayers that we did not think will end like,” Obare said.
It is also claimed that the demons made the boy perform poorly in class despite his relentless efforts to improve his performance.
On the fateful day, the woman arrived at Obare’s home with kerosene and candles to be used in the process of driving out demons.
They sprinkled the liquid on the boy and lit the candles for the prayer session.
The process went on for sometime before the boy began screaming as he burnt.
According to the Gem sub county police commander Charles Chacha, the two women were arrested in connection to the unfortunate incident.
