Zari Recalls How She Struggled To Find A Rich Man To Marry When She Was Still Broke

Zari admits that from a young age she wanted to get married to a rich man but she struggled to find one.

The 43-year-old mother of five while speaking to BBC Swahili said she saw herself wearing satin gold and living large.

However, as she grew older, Zari reckoned that she quickly realized that achieving such a lifestyle was more challenging than she had initially thought.

Zari noted she had to work hard to realize the lavish life she had envisioned for herself as a young girl.

“I used to think I would get married to a rich man, and wear gold, but I said it is not easy. When I realized I wanted a good life, I got the motivation to say I don’t come from a rich family, but it was my responsibility. I said I wanted a good life, and that has been my motivation in life to say I want a good life,” Zari shared.

Zari got married for the first time in 2001 to her late husband Ivan Ssmwanga.

The Ugandan socialite was married to Ivan Ssemwanga for approximately 12 years, they were blessed with three sons in the course of their troubled marriage.

In 2013, Zari divorced Ivan hinting at the possibility of domestic violence as the reason why she decided to walk away from their matrimonial home.

She established a romantic relationship with Diamond Platnumz sometime in 2014 – a year after divorcing her late husband Ivan Semwanga.

Diamond and Zari are blessed with two children together – Latifah Dangote (born on 6 August 2015) and Prince Nillan (born on 6 December 2016) in the course of their come-we-stay marriage.

She broke up with her Tanzanian baby daddy on Valentine’s Day 14 February 2018 after getting tired of his continued infidelity. Diamond cheated on Zari multiple times, even siring a kid with Hamisa Mobetto.

Zari got married to a South African-based man she only referred to as ‘King Bae’ on Mandela Day July 18 2019. Their marriage didn’t stand the test of time either.

The Ugandan socialite got married again in 2023. She married Shakib Cham Lutaaya in a Muslim wedding that was held in a house in April 2023.

The private wedding ceremony was attended by only close friends and family.

The Ugandan socialite was seen kneeling before her husband as the exchanged vows in a sitting room.

Shakib and Zari ultimately got married in a colourful white wedding held on October 3, 2023.

The wedding was a low-key affair as invites were only sent to close family members and friends.
